Things to learn from covid-19

A few months ago, when everyone was busy with their own lives, no one had ever thought that the world would come to a halt this soon. The cities which never slept have gone completely still. The people who did not have time to stop and look at the surroundings are now doing nothing but watching their surroundings. The people who rarely stayed at home are today bound to stay at home. People are dying all over the world due to covid-19 and while we sit at our homes ensuring ours and others' safety, it is time to think about the lessons that Corona virus is teaching us.

Lessons Taught by Corona virus:

Every tragedy teaches us a lesson. Amidst the lock down due to corona, we are reminded of some basic truths in life. Here are a few lessons taught by the virus outbreak-Covid-19 epidemic
  • We are One: When death arrives, there is no poor, no rich, no black, no white, no Hindu, no Muslim, nothing. With many celebrities and prominent world leaders being tested positive for coronavirus, we have learnt the harsh reality that when death stalks, it spares none. This pandemic has made us realise that we are all one in the eyes of God and we are made to love and support each other in tough times. We alone cannot survive.
  • The real joys of life: While we were too busy running after money and  success, we hardly got any time to sit together with our family, play with kids, read some books, have a cup of coffee, watch our favorite shows or develop new hobbies. It is now during this quarantine time that we have realised what we were missing in life. The real joys of life lie in little things.
  • Our planet Earth: It is an undeniable truth that as human beings are under home quarantine, the Earth can finally breathe. According to China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the air pollution in Wuhan which is also the epicenter of the Coronavirus outbreak has come down by 21.5 percent. Similarly, many European countries have shown a decline in air pollution during lockdown. Italy, which is one of the worst affected countries, has good news at least from the environmental point of view. Reports have shown a decline in air pollution. Also during this lockdown, Venice saw fish returning to the Venice lagoons and canals. This has happened after many decades. With the air being more cleaner, springtime flowers were seen blooming in Italy. This virus outbreak has definitely made us think about our priorities. Environmental priorities have taken a front seat now together with anti-coronavirus priorities.

The Covid-19 outbreak is definitely the biggest problem that the entire world is facing today. But while we stay at home praying and doing our bit to fight the deadly virus, let us remind ourselves the lessons that it has taught us. We have reached a point where the lockdown is affecting both our physical and mental well-being.
