The Power Of Negative Thoughts And The Ways To Release It

Power of negative thoughts and its impact on mind

I remember reading a very powerful quote on a board somewhere, which has not left my mind since then. It read, "If you realised how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought again." It made me think about the power of my thoughts and the impact they leave on my mind. Thoughts never leave us alone, right? But what kind of thoughts should occupy our minds is on us to decide. Let's have a greater look at the power of thoughts, negative thoughts in particular and how to deal with them.Positive thoughts

Power of Thoughts and the Importance We Assay to Them:

Have you ever wondered what makes your thoughts gain power? Power of thoughts is directly proportional to the importance we give to them. Here are a few examples to explain the same.

Sarath is an IT professional who is constantly bothered by a toxic co-worker at office. The only thought in his mind when he reaches the office is whether his colleague will  come and humiliate him. The thing is, he presumes that the person will hurt him in one way or the other even if there is a possibility that the person may stop hurting him, seeing him not reacting to his comments.

When I was in school, my classmates used to tease me with hurtful nicknames which would upset me. I know, most of you might have experienced something similar. Now imagine, what would have happened if you had never given importance to your classmates' taunts. They would have never bothered you. When someone sees that we are getting affected by their comments or deeds, they naturally do it again and again. The more we give importance to negativity, the more it will haunt us. Our mind quickly processes the negative thoughts because we stress over the negative side more than the positive.

What Kind of Thoughts Haunt Us?

The next question to ask yourself is, 'Can a thought which is given least importance haunt you?' No, it is not possible! Thoughts can bother you only if you pay heed to them. Consider the example of a sage. Have you ever seen a saint getting stressed? No! because he never gives importance to material thoughts, all he pays attention to is a positive power. We cannot get rid of negative thoughts but we can definitely reduce its impact by not assaying importance to it. Michelle Obama has got the same thought when it comes to dealing with hateful comments on social media. She says, she hardly reads anything negative written about her or her family on social media. She just focuses on her work and tries to improve her service towards the needful. Since, she assays importance only to the positive side of her work, she is successful and that success shuts up her haters. The same thing can be said about the stress and panic concerning Coronavirus pandemic. We all know that things are not going good but the problem escalates when we give importance to the fact that the world is in ruins and we are all in danger. It doesn't mean that if you stop looking at the tragedy, it would disappear. But it can definitely reduce the intensity of negative thoughts.

We can face this pandemic together by healing our minds by removing negative thoughts. The one and only mantra for it is to 'STOP ASSAYING IMPORTANCE TO NEGATIVE THOUGHTS' Thoughts gain power only when we consider it important and keep thinking about it. We all should take care of our mental health in the same way in which we take care of our physical health. Consolace counselling services in Trivandrum stands with you during this difficult time.
