What is Avoidant Personality Disorders?

People with an Avoidant Personality Disorder (AVPD) avoid social situations and activities because they are unable or unwilling to engage in these interactions. They avoid rejection, new experiences, and personal risks, and feel that they are insecure. Although they are often unable to cope with social pressures, they can overcome their fear of rejection through psychotherapy. In addition to psychotherapy, schema therapy has proven to be beneficial in reducing the severity of AVPD symptoms.
